As a Disaster Relief volunteer, who is 18 years of age or older, I agree to...

Take time to prepare spiritually before deployment. Pray for the people I will serve. Pray I will serve in love. Pray my attitude, motives, and actions will honor Christ. Spend time in the Word, allowing God to direct and mold me into His image.
Be mindful that my speech, actions, and attitude reflect my fellow workers, home church, association, Arkansas Baptists in general, and most importantly - Jesus Christ.
Assist disaster affected people within my abilities and limits, protecting my health and safety and the health and safety of victims, co-workers, and all other persons while en route to or from and while at the disaster site, informing on-site unit leaders of any physical limitations to be considered in work assignments.
Share the Gospel through putting my faith into action. Realizing this is not a time to engage in spiritual exploitation, I will share my faith verbally when asked, “Why are you here?” or as the Spirit leads. Spending time with God during deployment will enable me to be more effective in service and to be sensitive to the Lord’s leading while sharing His love with hurting people.
Respect all belongings of disaster-affected persons and, therefore, be especially careful to salvage irreplaceable personal items, such as family pictures, legal documents, wedding albums, etc., for the persons being helped. I will not accept or take damaged items from the disaster victims nor attempt to salvage items from the disaster area for personal use.
NOT accept payment in any form from anyone we are assisting. Persons wishing to make contributions will be referred to the unit leader (Blue Cap), which may receive contributions to the Arkansas Baptist State Convention Disaster Relief.
Obtain permission before taking pictures of disaster victims or their property, exercising sensitivity to their loss. I will respect confidential information and privacy of disaster victims, such as names, financial matters, etc.
Attend at least one Disaster Relief training event per year, as availability and ability allow, assisting with unit preparation, training events, and non-emergency use of the unit.
Wear official Disaster Relief apparel and display the SBC Disaster Relief logo only while engaged in Disaster Relief.
Contact my Unit Leader (Blue Cap) regarding my availability for each disaster response, completing the Medical Release and Participant Liability Release and submitting both to my Unit Leader upon deployment.
Pay my own expenses; arrange my own transportation; and take clothing, bedding, and personal items needed at the disaster site. I will provide my own health insurance, checking for volunteerism coverage.
Grant the Arkansas Baptist State Convention permission to use my name, phone, voice, likeness, and identifiable attributes in connection with any training, advertising, or promotional media material created now or in the future, without approval; and further releasing the Arkansas Baptist State Convention from all claims associated with said use.
