So much has happened overnight and we would like to update you on the situations in various states. We are anticipating news as to how we might be able to help Missouri and Oklahoma.
Last night, Missouri experienced three significant tornadoes. The tornado that struck Jefferson City, Missouri in the middle of the night has left behind a significant amount of damage to the downtown area. The city is still in the process of doing search & rescue and damage assessment. Missouri Southern Baptist Disaster Relief will be able to share more with our office as they receive this information.
There is also a tremendous amount of flooding that is building in Oklahoma and many have been evacuated. This has impacted the Arkansas River and we are expecting it to extend into Arkansas soon.
During these crises, we are so grateful that God is in control and know that he has a plan for those who have been impacted. As volunteers, our role is so much greater than providing physical relief. We can minister to those who are in the midst of trials. Please pray for:
- The first responders as they continue the search and rescue process in Missouri.
- Those who have been impacted by the tornadoes and the flooding.
- The leadership of Missouri, Oklahoma, and Arkansas as they plan for recovery and guide their citizens through that process.
- The volunteers who are already responding.
Thank you to everyone for your prayers as we prepare to respond to these states. We have been blessed with both amazing volunteers and fantastic prayer warriors.
