Daily Update: Flood Recovery Efforts Active in Ft. Smith

UPDATE

Flood recovery in Ft. Smith is underway. The Fort Smith Incident Command became operational yesterday, June 5. We have our Incident Management Team in place, and they will start working requests today, June 6.

The city of Fort Smith has divided the area into 5 zones, and we will be responsible for 2 of those zones. We anticipate quite a few volunteers this weekend and have everything in place. There will be another emergency training event at First Baptist Church this Sunday, June 9, to present flood recovery training from 3-5 p.m.

SERVE

Volunteers are still welcomed and encouraged to serve in one of these five relief sites, as trained Disaster Relief workers will be on site to give brief training to those who still want to help.

  1. Fort Smith
  2. Conway
  3. North Little Rock
  4. Pine Bluff

There are also two upcoming emergency training events available that do not require registration. They are happening this weekend in White Hall and Ft. Smith. Click here for times and locations.

PRAY

Continue to pray for the people suffering damage to their homes in this crisis, and pray that able-bodied people will volunteer to serve their communities as flood recovery efforts begin. Pray also for the safety of volunteers, as this work is dangerous in many cases.

GIVE

Monetary costs add up quickly in a major disaster like this one. If you feel led to support Disaster Relief financially, click here to give now.
