Arkansas Baptist Disaster Relief workers were deployed across Arkansas following a line of recent storms that brought intense winds and heavy rain to much of the state and across the South.
In Jessieville, where an EF-1 tornado is reported to have touched down Monday, Jan. 2, Balboa Baptist Church has completed the work that was there and aided in chainsaw recovery efforts.
The town of Montrose in South Arkansas also suffered storm damage. The National Weather Service confirmed that storms produced an EF-2 tornado.
As of Thursday, Jan. 5, the Southeast Arkansas Baptist Network was in Montrose feeding survivors. Units from Beckspur Baptist Church and the Tri-County Baptist Association were helping homeowners with storm damage.
Over the weekend, Arkansas Baptist Disaster Relief workers from the First Baptist Church in Clarksville flood recovery team assisted residences in Gould. The heavy rainfall caused substantial flooding in the area. First Baptist Church in Russellville and Faulkner Baptist Association are also working with flood recovery survivors. Additionally, the Mt. Zion shower and laundry unit and the Red River feeding unit are on site serving volunteers as they work.
