Several Arkansas Baptist Disaster Relief (ABDR) units were deployed to the Russellville area Sunday following the severe weather that hit the state over the weekend.
Recovery Units from First Baptist Church in Clarksville, First Baptist Church in Russellville, Cross Church in northwest Arkansas, Arkansas River Valley Baptist Association and Faulkner Baptist Association are currently providing relief efforts. Also deployed is the Ozark First Baptist Church Shower/Laundry Unit. First Baptist Church in Pottsville is providing meals.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Little Rock on Sunday confirmed a tornado touched down in the early morning hours near Scranton in Logan County. It was reported the tornado destroyed several chicken houses, damaged the roof of a home, removed a garage from its foundation, dismantled outbuildings, and uprooted/snapped trees.
The NWS reported additional trees and power poles were leveled at many locations in central and southern Arkansas including Aplin in Perry County, Ashdown in Little River County, Atkins in Pope County, Augusta in Woodruff County, Bearden in Ouachita County, Conway in Faulkner County, Crossett in Ashley County, Dardanelle in Yell County, Dover in Pope County, Gibson in Pulaski County, Grape in Saline County and Knoxville in Johnson County, among others. Damages were mainly centered around the Russellville, Searcy, Warren, Hot Springs, and Arkadelphia areas. A 63 mph gust was measured at Russellville and a 71 mph gust was registered near Dardanelle, the NWS reported.
